To have good quality, successful OBEs it might be a good idea to keep our Energy Body in trim.
Energy work isn’t essential but I believe it does help. Just as if we want to be physically healthy it is better if we get a bit of exercise. Having just one blocked chakra can ruin an OBE as we may not be able to get out. So first it is important to get to know our Energy Body and position of the chakras, with practise you can actually feel your energy body within your physical body. So it is a good idea to tune up our chakras, get the energy flowing, unblock any blocks we may have.
Of course this is an excellent activity for our general health, as well as for successful conscious astral projection. I call my Energy Body my fizzy friend because to me that is what it feels like, imagine thousands of tiny electric shocks, in some OBEs I have felt as if I am buzzing with energy and it feels so good.

Learning the techniques will take a little time but once you’ve practised a few times it will all start to come naturally. The exercises can actually be practised at all sorts of opportunities. Obviously not when your attention has to be fully focused on something else though, for example driving. However, I have practised some of these exercises while waiting in the supermarket queue, or in the post office, or sitting in my car waiting for the kids.
Energy work is really worth all the effort, it enhances your astral projection abilities and even improves your physical health so you just can’t lose!
It is also useful to learn about chakras and how to balance them as a block in one could prevent exit from the physical body there are many great books on the subject I particularly like Anodea Judith’s ‘Wheels of Life’.
